Customizing Community Server 2007 by Replacing the Standard Editor with Cute Editor for ASP.NET
There are a number of powerful enhancements available if you replace the standard Tiny Editor that is included with Community Server 2007. I recommend the Cute Editor for ASP.NET which has been developed by CuteSoft.net.  It offers a number of advantages:
  • It's very easy to install.
  • It offers many more features for writing and editing posts.
  • It greatly simplifies the process of adding various media types (video, music etc) directly into the Post without first having to upload the file to Community Server's File Gallery.
  • It's menu layout and the number of function buttons available to the user is customizable based on Community Server Role.
  • It can be set-up to play nicely with Community Server so it does not bump into the File Gallery functionality.  Think 'For File Downloads Functionality Only' and the 'ability to search for the available File' by using the search engine that in included when you think of how to best utilize the CS2007 File Gallery.
  • Implementing some customization which I can help Jeff Stull with even allows you to limit your users to the same File Gallery space that Community Server allots for them.
  • I can also help with setting Cute up to work with Custom Roles that you have defined for your users.

This sample Video was added to this Post by selecting the Insert Media button, pressing the Upload button, navigating to the directory on your computer where the file is located and selecting the file. During that process, there is the opportunity to check the Auto Run option and set the screen dimensions for the Video.

Thats it's, no extra configuration, no other modules to add.  Could not be easier!
